The Aims of BIM Management path

This path will cover the entire BIM project lifecycle and provide you with the knowledge and skills required to manage BIM-based information flow at each project phase. In addition, you will learn how the BIM process has been transitioned in alignment and integration to the international ISO 19650 standards. You will learn about each step of the process, the function and activities, and those responsible for their implementation.

The BIM management path is structured into eight courses based on the information management processes defined within the ISO 19650 series and collaboration practice during the delivery phase of assets.

Each course finishes with an action plan to help you start planning your next steps in putting ISO-19650 into practice in your organization or project.

AEC has become increasingly BIM-based. Technological advancements and digitalization pose new challenges for engineers. A desire to reduce costs and time, as well as a desire to be more sustainable, also drives the process. Information-based technologies can help unlock efficient working processes throughout a project's lifecycle. This course introduces Building Information Modeling. This course covers BIM basics, principles, methodology, terminology maturity models, and practical tools.

Defining the information requirements is the most important aspect of information management. Information requirements begin with why information is needed. Based on the ISO 19650 series, this course focuses on the activities undertaken during the "Assessment and needs" stage. In this course, you will learn how to formulate Project Information Requirements (PIRs). At the end of this course, you will get a plan to take your next steps toward implementing ISO-19650 in your organization.

Information procurement needs to be planned in advance. Projects and assets both fall under this stage. Within the framework of appointment and tendering, this course recognizes how to implement BIM requirements. This course focuses on the activities undertaken during the "Procurement Process" based on ISO 19650 information management processes. During this course, you will learn how to prepare the requirements for each invitation to tender and tender response, and how to evaluate them. The course ends with an action plan to assist you in implementing ISO-19650 in your organization.

BIM's value has been demonstrated through well-planned projects. In some cases, the team did not implement BIM effectively. This results in increased costs for modeling services, schedule delays, and little to no added value. A successful BIM implementation requires detailed planning for project team members. As a result, teams should not focus on whether BIM should be used, but rather on how it should be used specifically. Based on ISO 19650, this course focuses on the activities involved during the "Planning Process". The course concludes with an action plan to help you put ISO-19650 into practice in your organization or project.

This course covers the activities undertaken during the "Mobilization process" as defined by ISO 19650. Individuals should be available, educated, and trained to generate information and deliver the information model for authorization and acceptance. Mobilization plans may take different forms, such as schedules, tables, or even Gantt charts. We conclude this course with an action plan so that you can plan how to put ISO-19650 into practice.
